To step into your destiny and know why you were created – you first need to know the One who created YOU.

Basics of basics, is that you need to understand who God is and who you are. When I say “understand who God is” I mean you need to know His likes, dislikes, the stuff that makes him laugh, and the stuff that makes him cry… you need to know His preferences better than you know your best friends.

God has a personality just like us… and His mind, will and emotions are knowable. When you know what He likes and doesn’t like it’s a lot easier to talk with Him. When you know His personality….You can know with confidence that God is rooting for you the same way you are.

– If you know God hates sickness you can pray with confidence and ask Him to heal you or someone else.
If you know that God is not the author of confusion you can ask Him to order your thoughts and reveal what options you need to move forward with.

– If you know that God is a God of long suffering and forgiveness towards you then you can exercise the same long suffering and forgiveness toward yourself or the people that aggravate you. 🙂

– If you know He is the God that restores what was lost you can pray that He will restore lost years, emotions, or finances.

And what is the best way to know God? *drumroll*… Surprise: By reading the Bible.

Now listen… the Bible is more than stories… Everything in the Bible basically breaks down into 3 categories: Who God is. Who you are. Then it leaves you with this question, “Now, what are you going to do about it?”

This is the place you have to start – and comeback to – in order to tap into the identity of the One who created you. To discover your destiny, you need to (ironically) stop trying to discover your destiny and rather, discover God. When you know Who He is and what He wants, it stops being this issue of searching out something like a detective (the will of God). Instead…. you begin to PARTNER in what HE is doing.
