The Jewish New Year 5782 And It’s Prophetic Meaning
This week we celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the “beginning of the year” in the Jewish calendar. We have shifted from the year 5781 to 5782 and as we transition people are asking if there is a prophetic promise for us in this new year. I think that there is, and I think the numbers 5782 are hiding a divine mandate for the church!!
Let’s start by taking a look at the numbers in Hebrew and their meanings:
- 5 is the letter Hei and in Hebrew can mean “here is, to be disturbed or behold.”
- 7 is the letter Zayin and in Hebrew can mean, “crown, weapon or sustain.”
- 8 is the letter Chet and in Hebrew means “life”
- 2 is the letter Bet and in Hebrew means “house”
If we put these meanings together we see something emerge: Here is (behold) the crown (weapon) of life, the house. I think now more than ever the house that is both a crown and a weapon in life is the HOUSE OF GOD!
Now check this out, when you take the number 5782 and look it up in Strong’s Concordance something even more exciting emerges. The Hebrew word in Strong’s for 5782 is “Ur” and it means to “awaken!”
The word Ur is used throughout the Old Testament and can be used to express phrases in English like; stir up, excite, raise up, arouse to action, or to open one’s eyes. It is used nearly seventy-five times and has been used to describe an “eagle stirring up [“ur”] her nest,” in Deuteronomy 32:11, and in Isaiah 50:4 (NKJV) the prophet said, “He awakens [“ur”] me morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear.” It’s also used in the song of Deborah in Judges 5:12, “Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, sing a song!”
When you put all of this together I think the word for 5782 is that – The House of God is about to Awaken!
Shaking That Leads To Awakening
There are plenty of people praying for the third great awakening, but what are we being awakened from? Everyone asks for awakening but no one really talks about the process of awakening.
Often in our private lives awakening comes on the heels of a major crisis, such as the loss of a job, a family sickness, or a relationship falling out. Before an awakening can happen there is often a shaking that proceeds it. We need an event of some sort to shake us out of the way we were living and inspire us to become something more – something better!
Corporate shaking looks like cultural chaos that involves the realigning of nations. I think in 5782 we are going to experience even more shaking around the world with supply and food chain shortages getting worse, rising gas prices, inflation of the dollar, followed by the dollar losing its status as the world’s reserve currency, a heavy stock market pullback, terrorist attacks, needless wars, and more natural disasters.
The shaking of nations will only accelerate, because the Lord is on the move and each convulsion and shaking is working toward a final outcome: the emergence of God’s unshakable kingdom on the earth.
The only resolution to our economic shaking, restlessness, and loss of religious freedom—even the threat of losing liberty itself—will not come through revival, awakening, or intense intercession alone. God is saying that the end of the shaking is tied to his original mission; it is tied to the Church being a HOUSE for the nations.
A House For The Nation
During this year while the Chaos increases, the house of God will experience a corresponding increase in glory, boldness, outpouring, presence and HARVEST. We must awaken to the biblical promises God has given the Church, even in the midst of shaking, and know that He is with us and has called us to advance! There are many people lost right now, some saved and some unsaved, that have never encountered the power of God to heal, provide, or rescue.
For years God has been speaking through prophets and calling the modern-day Church to “rise up” and to awaken to the cultural war in front of us.
Up until the virus lockdowns in March of 2020 much of the Church was asleep in one of these mindsets:
- The Winning Mentality: “We were not concerned about America because prophet so-and-so said Trump would be elected for two terms.”
- We Are Leaving Soon Mentality: “It’s the Last days, Jesus is returning and we don’t need to worry about anything because we are about to be raptured out of here.”
- Stay Out Of Politics Mentality: “I don’t follow politics or the news because the spirit realm should never get involved with the natural realm.”
- God Doesn’t Do Miracles Anymore Mentality: “The miraculous passed away after the disciples died. God doesn’t heal or deliver people anymore.”
Yet here we are, at the end of 2021 and the Church is awakening to the reality that it’s not good enough to just go to a church on Sunday anymore. In the midst of shaking we are realizing something is seriously wrong when our inheritance is a Church that is largely devoid of power that often looks no different than the world around us.
We are awakening to the realization that we as individuals need to be more – more devoted, more holy, more steadfast, more bold, more loving, more prayed up, and more fasted up to engage with these types of demons and principalities if we are going to survive and offer the world an alternative hope.
The people of God ARE the House of God, and a house for the nation looks like a Church that engages the Seven Mountains of influence by identifying, supporting, and resourcing its people to emerge onto the front lines of the cultural battle.
The year 5782 is the year of awakening! It’s the year of the open book, a time to re-awaken to a love for the Word of God. It’s the hour of Deborah’s where warrior women arise to take their place beside men. This is the season where the people of God will find unity and band together to form local groups that go to school board meetings, executive offices, and state departments to stand up for the biblical worldview! It will be a move of God that is marked by deliverance ministry and immense harvest.
It’s time for the House of God to arise and engage in the culture war around it. Each of us has an assigned area we must engage in! If we do, then we will be like the Eagle that stirs up its nest before it takes off to soar high above the storms, unaffected by the turbulence below. When the people of God are fully awakened to build HIS House then, and only then, will nations be saved. This is the year for awakening!
